First Aid Course
Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised and is issued by Pinnacle Safety and Training (RTO 40496). National unit of competency: HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HLTAID010 - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid

- Comforting the casualty
- Providing first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Allergic reactions
- Anaphylaxis
- Asthma
- Basic wound care
- Severe bleeding
- Burns
- Cardiac arrest
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Convulsions
- Using pressure immobilisation
- Fractures, sprains and strains
- Poisoning
- Respiratory distress

- Operating first aid equipment
- Monitoring and responding to a casualty’s condition
- Communicating incident details to emergency services and workplace supervisors
- Maintaining confidentiality
- Assessing possible psychological impacts on self and others.

Prerequisites
Participants must
- Have completed the pre-course e-Learning and exam prior to attending the scheduled face-to-face training day
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
- Have the ability to read and write English
- Arrive in suitable attire, including long pants and closed-in shoes.
