De-Escalation Training

Occupational aggression, be it physical or verbal, has become a global problem in work settings and occupational groups. The incidence of confrontational situations has gained momentum in recent years and is now a priority concern for most workplaces with a service-oriented environment. These conflictive situations can occur in a number of settings within the workplace. Either internally such as face-to-face, telephone or email communication, or externally when offsite working in the community.

Description

Our core training covers the following settings in which these situations occur:
• Face to face
• By phone or email
• In the workplace
• In the field
Our training covers settings and scenarios relevant to your employees and provides staff with the necessary toolkit to manage confrontation and aggressive behaviours. The aim of all our training is to prevent any situation from escalating to physical interaction. We focus on provided informative, practical training where staff learn in an interactive environment.

By the end of the de-escalation training course participants will be able to:
• Understand situational awareness.
• Recognising the signs of an escalating situation.
• Control their emotions and speech in a confronting situation.
• Remain calm while working through de-escalation steps in the toolkit.
• Be confident in handling confrontational situations.
• Use appropriate body and verbal language in confronting situations.
• Deal with different types of aggressors, such as people under the influence of drugs.
The outcomes of this training course will be:
• Participants will understand risk assessment strategies.
• Participants will be able to effectively implement a toolkit for de-escalation.
• Minimising risk, distress, and likelihood of physical or psychological harm of your staff.
• Increased team confidence.
• Positive outcomes for personnel safety, security, and protection.
• Simple and effective techniques to manage situations should they become physical.

This nationally recognised advanced first aid training course covers a broad range of topics to enable participants to respond to advanced first aid situations and manage the incident and other first aiders until an ambulance or other medical support arrives. Upon enrolment into this course you are required to complete the mandatory theory learning and assessment. This is done online in your own time prior to your face-to-face training days.
